Witnessed: '03 rav4 vs n14 sss

The other night I was driving down Hume Hwy in the Celica (st184), a SSS flew by from behind and badly cut off a Rav4 next to me..We all lined up at the very next lights. It looked like the dude in the SSS was havin a fight w/ his gf, cos he looked p/o.
Anyway, I had the missus in the car, so I just took off normally, but I think the Rav 4 took offence at the SSS side-swiping him. So off they go, and to my surprise the Rav 4 kept head-to-head with the SSS through 3 gears! 
They pulled up next to each other at the next red lights again, w/ the Rav4 taking off on the green, but the SSS saved himself from more embarrassment and didn't run 
oh yeah,
n14: lowered, cannon exhaust, big chromies, system pumping
rav4: pretty stock-looking

when I saw the topic, I thought it might have been toymods own 3s-gte ultra rav... but it would have chumped an n14 pulsar

Wouldn't an 03' rav4 have a 2AZ-FE engine, i.e the 2.4l vvti engine out of the camry, if so i would imagaine it could do respectivley against an sr20de.

My mate has a 3sgte 02 rav 4 with a high flowed turbo on it. He took it out the creek last week and got a 13.8, but doesn't look too stock

OOhhh, I feel my ears are burning!!
FYI, the 2003 RAV4 would have a 2.0L VVT-i 1AZ-FE in it and would keep pretty well with the N14 Pulsar, so I think that's credible. The newer 2004 RAV4 would have smashed the N14, having a 2AZ-FE 2.4L VVT-i (yeah the same as the Camry's and the Tarago's).
I'll be taknig mine to WSID soon enough, but first I'm getting the rear end damage fixed up and/or getting the AP/E ECU put in. I'd say the damage would be fixed first... also tomorrow getting ST205 driveshafts put in (the RAV4 ones DO fit but they're piss-weak next to the GT-Four offering).
I really will have to update my page with some detailed pics soon.
