gt4 question Mon, 16 August 2004 07:29 Go to next message
hello

curious to know how much power a stock 3sgte in a gt4 celica would get to the ground compared to say a st162 FWD celica

how much power does the gt4 lose in the drivetrain process comapred to a st162 i should ask

depends what gen engine.

stock gen1 3sgte about roughly 85kw through 4wd
stock gen2 3sgte about roughly 95kw through 4wd
stock gen1 3sge about roughly 70kw through 2wd
stock gen2 3sge about roughly 85kw through 2wd

second question, thats unknown

why don't you just ask the damn question you want to, "how much power would I have if I put a 3sgte in my ST162 celica and used my FWD box?" goddamn it don't skate around this shit Razz .
gen2 roughly 105kw
gen1 roughly 95kw

thanks for the info

im looking at buying a st162 and then do a 3sgte, ok

obviously a gt4 will have more traction etc, but does it get any more power to the ground then a st162, im thinking the engine loses more power through the drivetrain before it gets to the wheels as it has to turn 4 wheels instead of two on the st162

so if you had a 300hp 3sgte in a st162 and the same engine in a gt4 with both cars running same gear ratios, on a dyno which is going to put out more power, im thinking the st162 will

in a hypothetic world where every car gains 100% traction all the time, the st162 would outrun the gt4

is that right, and if im wrong, why am i ?

did you even read my last post Mad

problem is they don't have the same gear ratios. besides if you have 300hp you will break you gearbox in which case the gt4 will be faster cause yours won't be moving Razz Laughing

yes in that world the 162 would be faster, but that world is your fantasy, it doesn't exist, we live by rules here,

I wouldn't bother with a 3sgte swap, and I say that from experience.

so you can see my perspective for a second the car i got now has about 350hp at the flywheel RWD

i cant expect that in FWD format, just weighing up cost of gt4 and etc. etc.
