Figured you guys are the best resource for this sort of a question..
Looking to replace my extremely smooth tyres...
They are 195/60/14 Bridgestone G-Grip.
They reside below a ST162 bonnet.
Looking for a reasnable tyre thats worth the money.
Im told Yokohama's are the go?
Anyone suggest or send me in the right direction? Anything?
Thanks
jimbo

Have a look into the Kumho 712's! They are a reasonable price and grip real well even in the wet! They are made out of a silica based compound so they are pretty sticky!
Value for money I think they are the shot!
Speak to some tyre places about them!

There was a test in 'choice' magazine a little while back... Kumho and Continental came out the best and surprisingly, the cheapest... One of the worst was the Good Year Eagle range...
I have decided on the Dunlop SP Sport for my car... Only $125 per corner...

I got some new ones the other day and have some interesting info that might sway your decision....
My old tyres were Falken ZIEX things (205/55/15") and going around corners they were unreal, couldn't slide out. I couldn't hold myself in the seat hard enough so for the 2 years I had them on the car I never slid out on corners even though I drove really quick around them. But when it came to taking off, wet or dry they spun like crazy. I thought it was due to the live axle.
My new tyres are Bridgestone Turnanzas (225/60/15") and I can not spin the wheels in the dry, hasn't rained yet so unsure about the wet. I'm not talking full bore take offs but really quick ones. They grip surpurbly off the line but they are nothing like the Falkens around corners. Even when all 4 Falkens had wire showing they still held the road better.
I'm not sure of the reason but here is my opinion...the Falkens were directional with only a few lines and mainly slick and the new ones are very blocky.
Would that be the reason?
P.S. Is $119 good for 225/60/15" Turnanzas? I believe it's a good price. They look nice and fat on my car too.

Hey Jimbo,
I've got TOYO 600-F3 195/60-14s om my ST162.
I'm very happy with them.
Stick like shit to a blanket, IMHO.
About $120-$130 each.
Cheers
Tim.
