hey Jack, you talking turbo piping or oil/fuel line silicon hose.

For the silicon hoses i use for fuel/oil/water I get it from Enzed, prices usually seem ok.

Mate if you are talking about intercooler stuff.. I got mine from GCG turbos, but wasn't cheap. Hunted around and seems there isn't much options.

Truck places sell rubber intercooler pipe, bends as well, but its rubber and not silicone and dont know how well it'd hold up.

Cheers
Joel

Practically all factory turbo cars (well Toyota at least) use rubber, and that seems to work fine.

The rubber stuff works fine and is available in black or black. What more could you want?

Yeah, there really isnt much choice. seems to be a closed market and the few places that do have it sell it for a motza.

just after 6" length of straight silicon hose from throttle body/plenum to intercooler.

exhaust shop wants $90

anyways will keep looking.

cant justify spending that on a little length of hose, although it was a pretty blue. must be the reason for the price??? Razz

http://www.bpmsports.com/products/lrgpipe.htm
try these guys. My brother knows the boss, says they have what yer looking for.
The silicone stuff in better on stopping heat transfer.
the site above will provide cut lengths, they also have some suburu kits.

' Silicone material exhibits low heat absorption properties. Superior results due to the larger diameter, which increases airflow. '

I've just had a look at their site and it seems they don't deal with the public direct, but if you give em a ring i think they distribute through PSI products.

Yeah id try a truck place. We have a place called Engine Protection Equipment over here in Perth. This is where i got my silicon bends and hose from. They are actually for truck cooling systems but are good for air piping. This is the brand they sell http://www.chase-walton.com/, it will be a shit load cheaper than that SIS GCG stuff. GCG 3" 90 degree elbow $110, i only paid $60 for mine Smile

Hi
I just need a 6" length of 3" straight silicone hose.

2 T-bolt clamps would be nice too.

Anyway, let me know how you can help me out.

Thanx

Cheers, I'll PM you with my query soon.

The reducer that I got at A/barn was OK for the price. I was a bit stuck and needed that piece to carry on my work and I'm an impatient sod.

Cheers

Look not sure if you have this franchise in your state but i bought it from a store called Pirtek. $38 for a 8 inch long x 3 inch diameter peice of silicon hose. You will find that hose that is used in the factory application is also silicon hose but it is just black, do not be fooled into thinking that it is ordianry radiator hose or some crap like that. I have also found that the stuff you would buy from repco, autobarn, is just ordinary rubber and not silicon hose, and for the price i would not expect it to be. This type of hose after a while will give way under the heat conditions.

Fattony - do they sell bends aswell? Have you had experience with the heat causing failure of the rubber? Coolant temp would be around 80-85 degrees C I would think.. Intake temps, would they be a lot higher than this? I wouldn't have thought so..maybe without an intercooler, but I'm not sure..

Re: Silicon hose Wed, 25 August 2004 23:02 Go to previous message
there are many different types of silicon hose. the stuff i sell is the high quality propper turbo application stuff - 2 types:

SFS which is silicon with a nomex liner (can be clamped directly to the turbo & will live for years) &
SH which is silicon with a glass weave inside it which will not live very long if connected directly to a turbo (maybe get 2 years if you are lucky)

you get what you pay for.

the hose i quoted was SFS.
