Hey guys im from the fairfield/liverpool area in sydney

and unlike every1 around my area I don't want any rice..
Im a full time uni student which means I'm very poor
so here come my questions..

I want to get an ae86, pretty tight budget(5k minimum 10k max, but im willing to wait a while depending on buy..

should I try find any ae86 with decent panels and minimal rust with crappy engine (because I'm willing to do a swap - 4AGE)

or should I wait and save for one with a conversion already done?

what would be your rough estimates in price differences with the two above options?

Also would a car newbie like me be able to do a conversion? i only know basic maintenance(oil/petrol/air filter, flushing coolant, changing oil etc..).

I would have no idea about changing gearboxes, diffs etc.. but I'm willing to experiment and learn(keep in mind i have never seen this done also).

- just a general question what would be best (performance/price wise) a 16v or 20v(silver-top)? to be modded in the future to 140hp approx.

(aiming for fun daily driver)

what am i looking at for insurance? im 19

"many experienced drivers prefer the 4AG at mildly tuned 140hp or so" Very Happy

mmm 10k max is a very nice limit, have a look in the for sale section and search up ae86 or sprinter and u'll see what 10k can get you (a lot!)
If your in the field of saving money definatly go for one that's had a conversion already done to it, it usually works out cheaper in the long run unless u plan on doing the conversion all urself and can get parts nice and cheap.
Also, before you commit to any car always check out insurance first, give just cars a call on 13 13 26 and just ask to get a quote, u can also use their website, get both quotes for 3rd party + fire theft, and full comp.
