eer... if you have points distributor, what the big yellow thing doing? or is it using the points as a trigger and it drives the coil?

yeah i thought it might be interesting...
its just wired up as stock, and the yellow box thing (ignighter?) goes to coil+, coil-, distibutor, earth..
dont know much about this, i havent started it yet so if its gunna blow! tell me!
i thought the yellow box was just like a ignition booster that gives stronger spark? why wouldnt you be able to use that with points distributor?

heheehe the yellow box is an igniton iginiter.. It is trigged
by a pickup in an ELECTRONIC distributer.. You need an electronic
distributor.. Don't even turn on the red ign lights as you could
kill the ignitor.

As said earlier it could be a unit that uses the points to trigger it and gives a transister output to coil. If there is no load on points they will last a long time. There shouldn't be a resistor in the cicuit with electronic ignition. I think the gt40 coil is a 12v job and it will only be getting around 7v with the resistor. Hope that helps.

If that igniter accepts like a Square wave 12v input (such as a hall effect switch apposed to magnetic reluctor type), it should work. Email me a pic of the wires coming out of igniter and I'll do a drawing for you. gze@bigpond.com.au
