1ggte sump removal Mon, 13 September 2004 02:04 Go to next message
Just managed to get the engine and g/box out of the halfcut (by myself) and put the engine on a stand, I have undone all the nuts and bolts to get the sump off but it wont budge, any tricks to it?

Help appreciated

Cheers

if it is like my 1jz it had some silicone type stuff sticking it together. We just pried it apart with a screwdriver and eventually it will come off.

good luck

Out of interest, what halfcut is it, and what are you putting the IGGTE into?

Surely you can swap sumps with someone else? Or do neither the front, mid, and mid/rear suit a hilux crossmember? If one of them goes, then you can just swap sumps & pickups with someone.

What engine did the hilux have - 22R? If so, what are you doing about mounts?

yeah, cos if its a 22r-e hulix a front sump should solve it.
though you may need a custom sway bar.

Back to the original question if you havnt got the sump of yet try heating up whats sealing it, would make it a lot easeir to get off.

dust, for engine mounts on your conversion, get two (cant remember if its drivers or passenger side) engine mounts off the 18r elongate the holes slightly and it will bolt in.
you will also have too shorten the intake pipes to the plenum by 100mm, gearbox crossmember also needs too be modified Very Happy

just a few handy hints, any other questions just pm me, relatively straight forword conversion though Smile
