I'm with stupid, BUT, it'll take a new engine to make the go match the rest of the car.

If you wan't something with balls out of the box, GZ20 or MZ20 is a good bet.

When I first read this topic I thought "ya mum" BUT this is highly inappropriate.
Anyway my car/st162 is a good option, personally I'm over it.
For sure the MA Supras!!! especially the ma70 GT 3.0
MR2's, Supras, Soarers, etc any imported Toyota fits your criteria apart for possibly the budget point of view, but yeah, they're all buyable

Those Preludes rock man! With their SOHC, little more power than a AE92 4A-GE even with it's 25% extra displacement and All Wheel Steering that is apparently very difficult to get aligned properly and doesn't stay aligned for long! Laughing

I wouldn't call your MR2 particularly cheap, but that depends on the budget.

And ahh, performance? Didn't you get beaten by a Civic at the dyno day? LOL. Just kidding, we all know that the Civic was cheating by being teh ghey wid da aidz.

Hrm. Everything I have read on them sais that they are SOHC.

Did you have an import or an Aus delivered model? As yeah, everything I have read about them sais they are SOHC. Perhaps they aren't as crap as I thought.

Still FWD and with not much more power than a 4A-GE small port (7%). Razz

how much power does an AE92 have??

does that have the 100kw motor?? If so I stand corrected but I would still rather a lude over an AE92 anyday, but i would rather my car any day as well becuase they are both FWD crap! Very Happy

Yes, the AE92 Corolla SX has a 4A-GE small port 100kw.
I would rather a prelude over a AE92. Although poking fun at the Honda for only have 107kw probably isn't right, as most 2.0 liter N/A non-Variable Timing engines of around that time only have around 100-110kw, like the 3S-GE and SR20.

I said the corolla isnt a two door, hence not really sporty, I smoked many celicas in my day all the way up to ST-205, they were no match for the Hondas brilliant smooth power curve...

You people have to remember while toyota and nissan are developing turbo motors (well they were anyway) honda were spending thier resources on NA so naturally thier NA motors are gonna be better than anyone elses, they always have been and always will be king of the NA Japs!

Yeah they have 'em, but we didn't get them in Australia.

ST162s 3S-GE has more peak power than the Honda Prelude, but I dunno how that translates in the real world.

Im not too sure how that prelude would have fared against JDM st-182 and 202 celicas tho, while we had the 5s-fe, the gen 2 and 3 3s-ge would have probably been able to keep pace with a prelude.
