currently my car is in the paint/panel beaters getting the rust cut out and painted. unfortunately they keep finding new spots of rust, and unfortunately they are around the front and rear windscreens.
i was hoping that the only rust in it was what i could see, but unfortunately it's what i can't see thats going to cost a lil bit more money.
but on a positive note. i looked at the colour of the paint today and all i could say is sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet. it will be nice when it's done.

Yeah, most of them rust out around the windscreen. Luckily for me, mine looks like its going to be just a bit of surface rust like it was on the Celica.
What colour are you going? Any hints?

how much are they charging you for cutting the rust out?
and how much for the paint job?
that's something I'll have to be doing to the supra some time in a year or so

ok. well i think it ended up being about $700 to get all the rust. the origional quote was about $500.
RUST I COULD SEE:
Bottom of doors
bit on rain rail runner above drivers side door.
bottem corners near rear windscreen.
inside hatch on the car itself on the corner.
along the top of the hatch.
near fueltank
WHAT I COULDN'T SEE:
around rear taillights
below front windscreen
around where the rear bumper bolts on.
what you see isn't what u get
be careful of this when you go and get your car done.
Overall the paint job and rust was going to cost me between $2300 and $2500.
and that includes a metallic red paint job.
i should have the car back by no later than friday this week, wednesday at the earliest.
hope this helps.
oh yeah.... there was a place in town that would have done it for $1600 but i know them and they are bodgy as. other places quoted me inexcess of $6000, which was crap.
if someone says to you that different colours cost more, it isn't entirely true. red, blue, yellow, white, black all cost about the same.. they said my paint costs about $60 / L and i needed about 2 L's for my supra.

$60 a litre?
typo?
and yeah, most paints cost the same. metallic will cost you more, 2-pac is dfferent to other types...
$2500 isn't bad at all for a paint job and rust cut out... where is this at?

no $60 wasn't a typo. i think that is what it cost them.
the place is called Bill Blocker Paint & Panel.
I've seen their work before which was kinda why i went there. They painted up a Nissan sylvia in a metallic blue for $1600. It looked sweeeeeeeeeeet.
Without this sounding bodgy... It's done in Their back yard. but they do have a proper spraying shed. It's a family business so no need to pay rent. and apart from Bill, his son and his wife they only have 1 payed employee. All of this will help keep costs down for the consumer. (me and you)
