Anyone have any idea whether bonnet pins are legal or illegal in NSW?
I'd explain why I'm thinking bout this, but you'd need a whole day free to understand.

AFAIK they are illegal based on the rules relating to protruding objects on the bonnet and potential to harm a pedestrian if you hit them.. never mind the fact they wont be walking for a while... stu has the regs.. contact him and hell be able to give you the exact wording.

Why not try fitting a set of an XA/B/C Falcon.
Would be a bit of work but they sit flush with the bonnet so there is no protusions.
Just a suggestion.

My first car was the first Pulsar. It had a bonnet that opened forward.
The ONLY advantage is that it can't fly open while driving.
biggest PITA I've ever known.
You've got to almost remove the bonnet just to do a service (but at least they open to vertical)
What's so good about your "real" car.
I bet mine stops better, handles better, and is more refined.
The pins are only a short term thing until I can get the proper bonnet.
And it can never be put back on the car its suppose to be because of the catch mods, so I may as well drill holes in it.

Cool1, you're on. I'll be home in Brissie at Christmas time!
Mind you, I haven't seen your car & you haven't seen mine.
BTW, do you have 4 spot front brakes, complete suspension replacement, & a car that's only 8 years old?
I hope you've got a turbo, coz the only way you'll get away from me is down the straights. Just ask around the people in Sydney to find out how much of a cornering nut I am.
I think the Merc emblem is designed to break of when hit.
That way they can charge uber $$$ for replacement.

Nice, sounds like a fair contest.
You're prolly still quicker in a straight line with your current engine anyway.
Got this spec: P/S, A/C, E/W, E/M, D A/B, ABS, R C/L, M/L?

Dont need power steering cause it no advantage, its unwanted weight and I have big balls.
A/C will be fitted once the cabin get work done to it.
Power windows are not required in a car thats 4ft wide.
WTF is E/M?
You can stick your air bag in your pie hole. These are for ignorant female drivers.
ABS isnt required for a 900kg car driven by someone who can drive.
WTF is R C/L and M/L?

someone told me once that you could have
bonnet pins but you had to still have your
original latch
that is bonnet pins are a secondary measure
based on that I thought why would you bother

Let's not forget those who fit stick on bonnet pins
EMP - yeah, my Sprinter used to be a bit that way at 220+, when it goes on the road again, it's getting pins, cage, harnesses.

E/W are also not needed when you don't have back ones.
Electric Mirrors
At least with airbags, I could push it just that much harder & know I'd have a better chance of surviving, just.
electric mirrors
ABS: you've got 400kg advantage, & yeah with decent brakes & tyres I've forgotten what the ABS pulsing through the brake pedal feels like.
remote central locking
Map lights
I thought about adding crap like
SFRS: split fold rear seat
T/B: towbar
R/R: Roof racks
But thats just getting silly.
You can see now why you have 400kg advantage.
My car is the same weight as Stitt's 68 wagon, & mine's way smaller.
also I think your 150+kw DOHC 2.0L turbo is better than my 66kW SOHC 2.0L turbo

I was just stirring anyway. But to keep things going, I wont have a rear seat, I might have some mirrors stuck on with double sided tape.
And an air bag wont achieve anything if you have good seat belts that stop you launching forward.
