20V Modifications - Cams Wed, 15 September 2004 15:16 Go to next message
Hey Guys

Just looking to get some info on modifying my 20v.

If I want to go for bigger cams what is the largest size I can go for with the stock ECU? I was thinking 264 or 288 degree cams.

Would I need to get adjustable cam gears to dial in the cams?
If so will I loose the VVT function?

Looking for some cams which will give me some better performance and give me a nice rough/lumpy idle.

Cheers

if you get adjustable cam gears you cant run vvti...

goto the toda site they prolly have the best selection of cams for the 20v as trd only make one set which are 304 degrees

heard that if u go with higher lift ones you need to change valve springs only as 20v comes with underbucket shims

with a standard computer i dont think you would be able to go to big, so as cams are bout the same price for watever profile you want id buy big, get valve spring kit and aftermarket computer..
just my thoughts

if u go to big on the cams and yr engine runs and airflow meter
then yr idle will be up the shit

not as bad on map sensor but if duration is great u loose vacuum and airflow meter sends wrong signal to ecu
