it's one of those fake intercoolers. For some odd reason most of the fake intercoolers are missing another inlet/outlet.

They are scissor doors, ala V12 Lambos (not on the Gallardo  ). The best example of these are on the Koenigsegg CC...those things kick ass.

Sexiest scissor door action ever is the McLaren F1. Gordon Murray used a Toyota Sera to get the geometry and action sorted for his car.
Does anyone know how many and where any F1's are in Australia ?

I beg to differ.
Traditional gullwings are hinged on the roof only and open upwards, giving the car a 'sea-gull wings' look in cross-section from the front or rear. The classic MB 300 SL and DeLoren are examples.
Scissor doors are hinged at the front and open forwards and upwards, ala Countach and other Lambo's.
If anything Sera's is a cross between both those styles, being hinges on the roof and the front quater panel, but because they mainly open forwards and upwards, they are not gullwing doors in the classic sense.
