ae86 front bar modifying for intercooler Thu, 16 September 2004 08:32 Go to next message
Hi just wondering if anyone has any pics of Sprinters with intercoolers that have a nice cut out in the front.
I have a new cooler on and trying to work out how to cut it.

Also best place for the number plate.

So if anyone has any pics they would be great

can be email to gregmatt@optushome.com.au if you don't have them online

thanks

Take a look at what Des has done..... It's a bit hard to see, but it's pretty straightforward and does the job.

Try this:

http://www.cypherindustries.com.au/gallery/car-shows/PWAS2003/ae86t1.jpg

Basically, it's the same as AE95 suggested, but I cut the bumper brackets either side of the opening at an angle, so at the front it's the fiull width of the opening. Then I bought some aluminium mesh from Repco and cut it to size, shaped it, then got it powder-coated black. Rego plate goes on the right, where the two holes below the indicator light are.

While on the topic, this is my old bumper, which is currentely for sale (*wink*)

http://wtljkane.customer.netspace.net.au/hackbar.j pg

Main difference being that my number plate was on the bottom. Other than that very similar to optionUP's (shit my car even came with the same wheels when I bought it at his car!)

I had to join in Des with posting oldschool pics of our cars when they were all colour coded!
Our cars evolution in apperence is kinda similar.. spooky.

yeah it sure was.
Thats what happens when you hit a gaurd rail and knock the headlight out of whack...
I was lucky, it went into my headlight and parker, but missed all metal and the bumper!

if you cut all the way to the edge, you cut the inner bumper support out also.
this can cause the bumper to sag and the other mount to be ripped from the bumper.
