At least the Kiwis batted first in their match against the USA. You were at least guaranteed 50 overs of cricket. They made 120 in the last 6 overs against the USA. Laughing

yeah, I read a transcript of an interview with ponting, and he seemed pretty offended that they had to play, so he just wanted to get off the field.
besides, not like there was a large crowd to entertain Smile
world champs vs a team that doesn't even play in the world cup is slightly unfair tho.... would have been better to put usa vs more countriel in bagladesh's league.

although I would've watched just for the 8 overs of australian batting Smile

But in all fairness of the American's at least they tried. The Australian's should have given the yanks a chance to learn not to waste either teams time or to humilate each other...

as ponting said, they went out not only to win, but to make sure their net run rate was beeter than NZ, so if the final was washed out australia would still win.
Most certain way to do that was to send them in.

yeh draven i was about to say, he wouldn't be too bothered by being bowled out by a 40 year old plumber if you have seen how he batted. just strolled down the pitch to every delivery and bludgeoned it through gaps that really weren't there. and yeh, now they have a net run rate of almost 8 so have one less thing to worry about later

We will play either England or Sri Lanka - both gimme matches.

Sri Lanka isn't aided by Murali - he's had shoulder surgery. I suppose you can still damage your shoulder if you throw. Rolling Eyes

I hope someone runs murali over with a truck and then backs over him again to make sure he is dead...

He claims to be the best bowler ever but he forgets that sri lanka constantly have tours of zimbabwe and bangladesh which are the shittiest teams on the world stage!

I suppose I don't need to remind you that 350 of his 500+ wickets were made on the subcontinent against those same second rate teams. Rolling Eyes

Ultimately, the impact he has made on cricket is minimal despite taking 500+ wickets. Compare him to Warne for instance - same number of wickets yet turned the game on its head. 15 years ago who would have thought of using a leggie as an opening attack bowler?

It's a shame as he will be the world record holder for most wickets taken, yet to mention him in the same breath, sentence, paragrah or page as true bowling greats like Ambrose, Hadlee, Lillee, Warne is a travesty of justice.

I'm no defender of Murali by any stretch (ever), but I don't blame the guy entirely, his action should have been identified and corrected many many many years before he made his international debut.
I watched very closely the tests done here in Perth and he definately changed his action when he bowled his 'doosra' (stupid name) from how it bowls it in games. A rort and a fallacy, he made a mockery of that test, just as he mocks the rest of the cricketing world.
I blame the corrupt and bribe accepting / betting scandalous Indian Cricket Board for the travesty of justice cricket is suffering at the hands of this chucker at the moment.

You really should be banned by now, with your anti-Police profanity and this pearler directed at me.....

I think your trouble is that you don't see past the immediate problem to find the underlying cause, you react at the surface level.

If you would bother to look further / deeper into it you will find the system in place that produces these travesties. That is where you need to direct your (measured / controlled) anger in order to change the system. No point in abusing the problem that the system produced, its wasted anger.

Otherwise a futile existance is just lost in foul abuse arising from meagre shortcomings and irrelevance to everyone else.

really I cant be bothered looking into it more as I have more important things to worry about...

I take what i hear on the news and formulate my own opinions on the subject not really with any regard for anyone elses feelings for one simple reason...I DONT CARE!

As for my police profanity well unless a moderator tells me to stop saying it or I will be banned then I am not going to stop saying it for the simple reason that the police have never, ever done anything to assist my life in any way!

For instance I have had my car stolen, they didnt catch them, my dad has had two of his cars stolen, they didnt catch the theives, I was zapped with a taser at a party by someone whom I knew and then identified at the police station later that night, they didnt arrest him or search his house for the weapon, some punk kids threw balloons of paint at my house and then a school on the same night, they charged them for the school (which was 100m down the road i might add) but not our house due to lack of "evidence" oh and my ex girlfriend was raped by her then ex boyfriend and again they did nothing!

But when i am doing ten kilometres over the limit it is a police officers sworn duty to slap me with a fine and then defect me for having one brake globe in a four globe brake cluster out?

And you wanna tell me that i should stop directing profanities at the police...

Heres an idea why dont you *(*^$(&@^#&$@#!

RA23, I agree.
What happened to the good old days when a suspect action was called by the umpire and that really was the end of it?

What shits me the most is the Sri Lankans are so keen to pull out the 'race card' and the ICC allows him to continue playing for fear of being labelled racist. Unfortunately the doosra was so blatantly a throw that even they couldn't stomach such flagrant disregard for the rules.

Wisden reinforced the cricketing community's sentiments by recently leaving him out of the ICC Test XI.

Eight players have been called for chucking.

GT,
That is where this whole thing will be resolved, by the umpires calling a no-ball for an illegal bowling action. Until that happens again, the ICC will continue to cower and be bullied by people bleating political in-correctness and inferring racism is alive in cricket. A rule is a rule is a rule, and that's final.
Now I'm going to respond to Mr 1GGTE in a separate post.

Don't ever believe that you are the only person to have suffered injustice at the hands of the Police, or that the injustice you have suffered is any better or worse that what has occurred to other people.

And read your earlier post again, you began with the personal insult directly at me, absolutely unprovoked by anything I had said previously, and I had never spoken to you before now. You continue with the 'insults', now unreadable, but definately cuter. Am I wrong in guessing that you have a lot of unresolved anger and you lash out at people ? I don't want to know why, I'm not interested. But I will defend myself against those who want to attack me.

Add some value to this forum. If you are trying to inject some humour into a thread, try not to do it by insulting others, because its just not funny.

Now - do something completely unexpected and respond without a 'mouthful' of abuse and insults, or even better, do nothing at all and accept that your behaviour was unacceptable in this instance.

ok sir...i am sorry for calling you a liar...
did you see the ( Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing ) after what i said, that signifies it is a joke...

I will admit I post some real bullshit on these forums sometimes, who doesnt tho, i vaugley remeber your method for tieing rope to your steering wheel and accelerator for dorifto action??

Did i diss you on that being possibly the stupidest idea i have ever seen? NO!

Yes i was trying to inject some humour into a thread, and failed obviously but if you want to make it a slinging match then go ahead, cos i am at work till 8 so ill be behind a computer screen till then!

Also keep your banning ideas to yourself...If i was gonna be banned it would have happened a long time ago...But i manage to keep within the rules of the forums, even If I do use a lot of swear words, build a bridge and walk your ass over it!

peace out

OK. No worries. Thanks. The eff word did not offend me as much as the liar accusation.
I usually know 'j/k' after text to signify joke/joking and I did see these Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing but that could have been you laughing at me, not with me, and these are two entirely different things !

Yes, that was me with the 'rope tied to the throttle cable thread', but I don't subscribe to your B/S theory about that effort. I drove my car exactly like that for 2 days, getting parts and work done on it, and it was after driving to CLG's house and meeting MkII82 there, that CLG dared me to post up this mod as a laugh in the Outhouse. So I took the dare, he lost, and I tried to make it funny and send myself up.

And yes, I agree, its a stupid thing to do in a car, and I was not attempting any drifting with it, it was for short trips to get stuff to build my car with, as I had no other transport. And the stuff I was getting was what I needed to fix the accelerator pedal with.

I'm not interested in a slinging match, life is too short to play silly games, I just believe that with a bit of creativity, you can be funny without dissing and swearing. And who wants to be at work until 8pm (anyway) thinking up ways to insult strangers?

I won't mention the b word again around you, its for others on this forum to decide what they want to do. Remember that they only method they have of judging us is by what we say, as we are all strangers to them. If someone stuff's up but learns from it and tries to fix things up, that should count for more compared with a person who just continues to behave poorly, cos' it just wears thin.

Try and have fun at work.

Cheers.

It was all cricket...then this thread turned into a weirdly polite slanging match between Mr 1G-GTE and Ra23celica Sad .

Bring back the cricket discussion!

I can't wait till summer, or the Indian tour even! I'm as happy as clam that Kaspa is back on the scene - Who could forget his heriocs in India a few years ago? He is pure hard work without the boofhead Lee ego. When all the pretty boys were failing, Kaspa kept giving his all for the team Smile .

Plus, the entire Murali saga is a disgrace to Sri Lanka and the ICC. His career will forever be tainted by his throwing - the ICC should never allow a country to push it around like that. IMHO the entire Sri Lanka cricket board are guilty of bringing the game into disrepute. Sri Lanka is the one team I love to see belted around the park, all day, every day because they are such conniving, cheating, whining bastards!
