Nissan Pintara??

Hey guys, i know that you're all toyota nuts here, and i'm a big fan myself. But when a friend of mine offered me his pintara, i thought that i should at least consider it - with the advice of some people who know what they're talking about of course! so here are the specs:
R31 Nissan Pintara – late 80’s model
rear wheel drive
Ca20e twin spark
180,000kms – 40,000kms since full rebuild
Extractors, 2.5inch straight through, 4inch dump
Custom cold air intake
Cam job (not sure what.. will find out soon)
Polished head
Bosch and MSD ignition gear
Monster tacho – with rev limiter etc
New LSD
New heavy duty clutch
New close ratio gearbox
Lightened flywheel
Will be supplied with new tires
Has neons etc installed, but only visible mods are exhaust and tacho
$4000
$3500 without tacho and rev cut gear. The rev limiter is the type that kinda taps against the limiter, instead of going BANG and bouncing off it.
$500 extra for new koni shocks, and new springs
Any feedback from you guys would be very much appreciated!

ca20e is a horrible motor, way underpowered for a skyline sized car, i dont care about the mods it is still a pintara with neons
seems to be cheap for how much has been spent on it tho
i was told they are fwd

yeah, i was pretty sure it was front weel drive too. Until he took me for a drive in it and just started lighting it up.. the REAR wheels both left a shitload of rubber.
Though him doing that left me a little concerned about how the car has been treated instead of being impressed..
it actually went pretty well despite the ca20, but then again i'm used to my ra60 celica & st141 corona - both with screwed engines!
he's having it dyno tested today and is expecting about 115kw at the wheels.
of course i'll have to see the dyno sheet to believe it!

cheers for the advice guys, and here i was getting all excited that i could finally have a car better than my corona for $4k. ah well!
i'll give him a call later to find out the dyno results - just for curiosity's sake! i'll let you know what it comes up with.
Just as a side note.. do you guys know of any toyota car that's rear wheel drive, has decent power, decent fuel economy, and handles nicely? oh.. and is cheap! lol.. utopian car!

theres no bullshit.. i dont boost around every single corner
and the car only weighs about 1300 kg with me driving it
so take 400 kg of lard off a jzz30's consumption
cause its so light it doesent take crap to get it moving

Nope, Nark's 1GGTE gets high 6l/100km on the freeway, what does suck ass is your auto and the tubbiness of your car making you thrash it all the time to get around.

His pimp is greater than yours...although being faster is cooler again.
Put the chrome wheel arches and the pimp level will rise though...but not look as...cool?

his pimp is greater than mine due to the 1JZ factor, however with my new rims and the lowering and tinting which will happen pretty much as soon as my vehicle makes a comeback my pimp factor will rise exponentially, as for the chrome wheel arches well I am considering goin one better with flarings on the guards
PS my new rims are not on the car atm so my pic doesnt show them off

theer ya go
flared guards, lowered big rims.. tinting is coming soon(my other soarer was tinted
i think its not round/big and bulbous enough to look pimp though.. just sorta looks tough in my mind
i still dunno what im gonna do about the wheel arches

your car looks phat indeed, put the chrome back on or send them down my way goddammit!!
When i said pumped gaurds I meant something more like this...
forget about the gayness of the rest of the car just focus on the pumpness of the guards!
That is pumped guards! That is what I want

Exactly, those are the gayest farken cars i have ever seen, although I reckon If i saw this pintara in question there may be a new contendor!
What do you reckon of the gurads on the peach one, cos thats what I am prolly gonna do, with some 45mm spacers the wheels will sit just perfectly!

in response to a few posts:
an ae86 4age will set me back a little more than 4 - 6k if i want one in decent condition (thank you initial d!)
a soarer wouldnt be all that cheap to run, which is unfortinately quite a high priority at the moment as i'm feeling kinda poor at the moment being a full time uni student living on my own..
my current fuel consumption out of my stock st141 corona with 2s-c engine (315k on the clock) is about 7L/100k highway (pfft.. when do i do highway?) 11.5L/100k GRANDMA driving around the city and 14L/100k pushing it.. i average 13.
so you can kinda see why i want something better... i'm paying for the juice but getting none of the performance! top speed of 175? BAH!
A cressida may be pimpin goodness, but its still a barge (lol.. i'm sorry!) and will use a fair bit of juice.
or maybe i should just get the pitara, get the neons going.. and then pump the guards off their tits.. SICK mate sick, poontara!

FWD Gheyness aside, my 5sFe Sillycar runs 7->7.5L/100km on the highway, and about 9->10L/100km around town. Now THAT's economy!!
(yess, I DO give it curry around town)

Um, the Pintara is a barge too... Did you realise this?
I suppose the Cressida is not much better in the barge stakes but would outperform the Poontara in every respect other than fuel ecconomy (if both were stock).

do you know what sort of fuel economy you can expect from a cressida - driving around the city pushing it a bit?
manual would be kinda rare wouldnt it? - thats a must have for me.
just curious but what are the specs on the cressida??

Manuals didn't come on mx83 cresidas, only ones out there are from people that have done conversions. Engine is the 7MGE, 3L inline 6.
