3SGTE Knock sensor?! Sun, 26 September 2004 02:23 Go to next message
I think my knock sensor in my ST185 might need changing, my CEL was coming on and the code that I pulled indicated the knock sensor. I have read that these are shitty and break easily. Can anyone give me a picture of the actual sensor, I am pretty sure that I found it, I looked thru the drivers side tie rod hole and think I saw it, it's screwed into the block and has one wire and a grey plug right?

Anyone have one I can buy, and any hints on changing it?!

Thanks Very Happy

Yep you found it. Just unscrew it and when you screw the new one in, coat the thread with some greese.
I have one from a 5MGE you can buy.

Only big dollar aftermarket ECUs have knock control. All the knock sensor does is detect knocking/pinging.

I have no idea if the 5MGE knock sensor is the same. But for $10 you can have it.
