AE86 Exhaust questions... Mon, 27 September 2004 16:44
Hi gang,

I was browsing through so ae86 4a-ge blue top exhaust quesitons but i didn't find what i was looking for, so maybe some of you tech heads could help a toymodder out

i want to just get the optimum performance out of the engine without putting too much strain as i understand it's old and it probably wasn't built as strong like GZE's.

After this issue, i'll concentrate on maximising it's potential with just tuning alone... but for now i have this problem..

1. I currently run standard extractors and standard filter box with snorkel on my 86...

Change extractors?

K&N pod filter or quad trottle body... value vs performance.
I know that a filter will give maybe 5% increase in HP, and costs relatively low...

But as for quaddies... i haven't got a clue but i know it costs HEAPS (from the last time i asked...)

2. Muffler, i hate my muffler... it is bent and sounds like a lancer fart... i heard motorbike mufflers are best... which one? and how much would i be looking at??

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated and i hope to bring the original sprinter flavour to it's peak without outrageous hybrid modifications or forced induction (i'll save it for my MX5)

Razz

Thanks a lot guys

-Jay
