NSX gotz nothin on the Silly! Thu, 30 September 2004 09:02 Go to next message
(Street names are for the Canberrans)

Was going round the Kings Ave roundabout (where the "chicken on a stick" is (Russel)) and I see ahead of me a car fang it.

So I accelerate and catch up to see what it is... A black shiny NSX.

"Goody" I thought, hope it turns on to Wentworth Ave!

Sure enough, it did. Now these two turns are amongst my favorites in Canberra so I was relishing the challenge...

Needless to say that I was right up the rear bumper of the NSX as we hit Wentworth (I was a couple of car lengths behind at the start). Smile

Of course, it's easy for me to push my car, it wouldn't cost $250k to replace.... hehe

Still, made me feel good. He *did* run wide on the last turn though, which shows that he was pushing pretty hard...

Here's a map for y'all with a quick scribble of the two turns I'm talking about. Smile

Well, from where that red line starts, I was a couple of car lengths behind.
By the apex of the second corner, I was right on his rear bumper.
Smile

Then he ran wide on the exit of that corner. Prolly 'coz he freaked out that someone could come up that quickly on him... hehe

It seemed to, but I wouldn't have thought so.
How fast are NSXs over the quarter?
I suppose my car would have more torque?

Meh, my car ain't that quick!

Although I've beaten quite a few "13 second" cars on the street, but that just comes down to drivers with more money than skill.

Good work Nark!

I love those corners onto Wentworth that you are talking about, especially when there is no one around or just driving with mates Very Happy

A Black Mtn run is always fun too, lots of nice corners (just send the noisiest car up first to scare away the Kangaroos!! Laughing )

Not sure what my favourite corner in Canberra would be though?? So many smooth corners and round-abouts spring to mind........

Yeah, Black Mountain and Mount Ainslie are great, although my brakes can't handle it due to the heat from the turbos. Sad

I need a big bonnet vent, but I don't want a ghey bonnet vent on my car. Disgusted

And, yeah, the roos are a big worry!

Why not, bonnet vents are cool Rolling Eyes

there arent many other ways around vent heat, but you could try some of those turbo bags they are using in the states, or use a small subtle vent, like the rice vents on the MY98 - MY00 WRX's except have a hole underneath them so they actually do something

I don't think I have the room for those bags...
And a small vent won't do... My rear turbo sits about 5mm away from my clutch master... So big-time air extraction is needed...

I really don't a big arse vent. Sad

I see your problem.

With such little room there is not much chance of fitting a useful heatshield of cover.

My bonnet has "rice" fitted. A single cosworth style vent over the turbo to extract heat. It does a fantastic job, you can see the heat coming out of the vent when stopped or driving slowly.

The fins on the vent face backward so the air passing over the bonnet when driving draws out the hot air.

Here is a link to some pics where in some of them you can see the vent, rice or not it does have a purpose, and i don't think it has too much visual impact:

Yeah, I might be doing a Cossy vent.

I'll prolly buy a new bonnet and stick the vent there and use it as a "summer bonnet" 'coz the heat isn't that bad in Winter unless I'm fanging it for extended periods...

My thoughts exactly, just hold on to the extra bonnet tho in case for some reason you want to either sell the car or you get defected.

But you could paint teh new bonnet matte black and be a full dorifto specialist hehehe

aren't NSXs a bit sluggish? (compared to rz supra, gtr, rx7 etc) i thought they were like 0-100 in like 6-7 seconds... and like 14-15 sec quarter mile (real sluggish i know Rolling Eyes )

but you catch my drift Smile
