icon3.gif  4AGE or Racing Suspension? Thu, 30 September 2004 14:40 Go to next message
ok im a really big n00b

i have a choice of one of two sprinters
one has a j-spec 4AGE engine (i dont know the difference between a jap one and an aussie one) and a crack in the front bumper

the other has an aussie 4ac engine with racing suspension

which would cost more to have?
is it better i take the one with better suspension or is it easier to stick a 4AGE in later?

all help is appreciated, thanks in advance

Your decision will depend on factors you've not mentioned here, like price, condition, ...

Given the gains from each mod, I'd take the suspension over the motor any day!

I'd go the car with the 4AGE.

Cost of an engine swap: $3000
Cost of low springs + decent shocks: under $1000

Rex concurs. He finds the idea of a 4AC powered AE86 with racing suspension as highly unlikely.

race suspenssion is a term used very looseley! are they penske's or $3000 dollar a corner bilsteins? if not its just something like, pedders shocks and springs which is about as much race as a std 100kw 4ag in a front running formula atlantic. the better buy would be the 4ag one as it saves you money swapping the 4ac to 4ag or what ever you decide to throw at it.
