Got my 86!!! now with the problems

I woke up this morning, opened the local paper, and staring at me int he classifieds section was a toyota sprinter for sale.
Went and had a look at it and bought it as soon as I saw it.
It had:
Good:
Jspec 4age bluetop
nice interior with mazda buckets
jspec taillights
cd player and speakers
clean nice looking body
nice wheels
lowered
Bad:
Rust
cracked as hell dash
bonnet is shite.. need a new one
colour coded bumpers that the paint was peeling off
lowered king springs without short stroke struts so doesn't handle that well.
Windscreen cracked.
the best thing is that I got it for $2300!!!
I need to get the rust fixed. There is some on top of the windscreen which has eaten in a little bit, some on the top of the inside of the hatch which has eaten in a bit and some in the drivers door which has eaten in a bit. other areas are jsut surface rust.
How much do you think that its going to cost to get a panel beater to fix that up. I dont need a full jobby jsut something to get me past the roadworthy.?
Also, how much is it going to be for the windscreen to be replaced? Im looking at a new windscreen.
Thanks very much.

Good buy there mate - seems like the only good deals are left here in Qld ...
I believe Ken Streeter recently bought another 4AG AE86 for about the $2k mark which was registered but had some bent panels in the side.
You can get replacement windscreens from Windscreen O'Brien's for about $250.
As to the rest, it's getting the car to someone who will then be able to quote you.
Helps if you know someone who'd do it for you free - the Aussie black market trade in cartons of beer helps. I just need to pay for the paint ...

Good buy mate
Good to see another Sunny Coast member also.
I may have missed it but what colour is it?
BTW my new windscreen that was fitted at my house cost $180.

Its white and it looks real nice for 2 grand. I'll get some pics. Im gettin a new bonnet soon and im not sure wether to paint it white or glossy black.
Im going to go use the guerne to take the paint off the front bumper, cos underneath its nice and dark... not faded
I'll get some pics sometime...
Does anyone know how much rust repair costs?
I have about 7-8 spots of surface rust and maybe 2 where the rust has eaten in a bit.
any estimates????
Thanks
Gavin

Shoot the possum and dont go the " typical " ae86 route
Hope the repairs go well - another sprinter that seems it will be in good hands + restored - nice to see !

Hahahaha... yeah i dont usually like the black bonnets unless they are real carbon but i saw one with a glossy painted bonnet and it looked oh so nice....
So no one knows anything about the rust? how much it could cost... not even a slight idea? theres about 5 surface rust spots and about 2 or 3 areas where its eaten a slight hole.
I took some pics of it that I will post int the members ride section soon and update as i uprgade the car. It looks pretty damn nice, i have to admit.
handles nicely but needs a new steering wheel...the old one looks like a kmart special and its like 5cm in diameter haha
