Special edition of the st-162 celica, has a few bits colour coded white, a different interior and "white lightning" writing on the side. there was some specs posted here a while ago, try a search.

The White Lightning ST162 was one of those end-of-model run special/limited editions that manufacturers often release to keep sales going just before the new replacement model makes its debut.
It was mechanically identical to any other Celica of the time, it just had a lot of options (sunroof, GT4-type seats, etc) included, plus the requisite colour scheme and decals.
It came along in '89 I believe, with the ST184 Celica just around the corner. Toyota did the same thing again with the ST184 'WRC Edition' in late '93, with the ST204 not far away.

ohk thanks she did say it was a 1989 and that there were like 3 in the state. The way she was talking it had some awesome motor and went like a F1 car. So I'm assuming she is full of shit then

my mrs has a 1986 white celica "white lightning"
Its a auto, and it has the GT4 seats, and a sun roof.
The only thing it doesnt have is the celica badge at the back spoiler. But this might just be beacuse it had a respray and the bastards didnt bother in putin the stickers back on.
Anyone know?

thats a interesting thought. There is currently a TTR 7th gen being sold, perhaps we will be seeing a new gen of celica soon :)
