Hi, hopefully someone can share some advice. In a bid to up the power in my 1983 18RC hilux I purchased from my local wreckers what I was told was an 18rg engine. Has twin webbers, extractors and 5 spd for $700. Gets it home and finds an engine number '3T....!' The head looks very much 18RG so now I'm not sure! Can an 18RG head be put on a 3T block. Should I kick up a stink and demand $$ back or should I just try what I've got 'cause anything would be better than an 18rc? The part number on the front of the head is 11111-88260. any help/recomendations would be appreciated.

sounds like you've got a 2TG/3T hybrid. 11111-88260 is a 2TG head, and if the block has 3T stamped into it, then thats definately the case. it will be 1770cc if it has the standard bore and a 3T crank. these motors are generally hotter than an 18RG, but your problem will be putting it in your hilux, as its a T-series block, not R series you will need to fabricate engine mounts etc to get it to fit. Id take it back and get an 18RG. much easier.

it also, may be just a plain old 2tg just using the 3t block.
if thats the case, they are fairly gutless.
but have good potential
