Went to the drags and... Wed, 13 October 2004 22:19 Go to next message
I went to the Wednesday night drags last night, just to see how the car went and to have some fun demolishing my rear tyres before i get new ones on the weekend Very Happy

My best ET was a 15.641 @ 88.58 mph. Reaction Time was .719

Pretty happy with the results, was hoping for a low 15 but that was close for the first time

Whew... you had me worried for a sec there. I always thought MA70s were good for mid 14s stock, and the 'twin turbo' had me fooled into thinking it was a JZA70 that you were bragging ran a 15.6. Exact thoughts were along the lines of "Eeek... maybe my car is a camry with a bodykit after all!".

I've never been to the drags - what would be a good ET for an MA70 (7M-GTE, manual, stock + full 3" exhaust)? Would it beat, say, hypothetically, an R33GTS-T (stock with catback)? No reason... just wondered... Rolling Eyes

Plus how much difference would it make, again hypothetically, running ~12lbs boost instead of 7-8?

D'oh!!

I'm forever throwing around the idea of picking up a series 2 R33 turbo-manual from a dude I know (importer) for $20,000. I would've expected more from a 2.5L Turbo-six. Really!!

Oh well, I guess you don't get sumfin fur nuffin. Sad

Good in theory, but the Soarer.... . . . .... so . . heavy !

I know they're not like, 2-ton but I'd havta go the sweet sweet quad-cam V8 if I did get one, but that means auto-manual conversion. HEADACHE!!!!

The Supra, I haven't really been a fan of since the model before the JZA70.

Yup - R33 comes with a manual + turbo for $20,000. Exhaust, Cat, front-mount and ECU for $3,000 ?

250kw+ ?

Spill the beans then. A mate of mine bought an R33GTS-t a few months back for around $22k. Nice condition, but it's no GTR by any stretch.

yes you can get r32 GTR's coming in under the 15 year rule for $20000ish. I would be very careful though, because even in Japan, cars don't just sell REALLY cheap for no reason. (yes I know about their increased rego. prices)

33 GTR for $20 with those mods is ok but without you can get them cheaper than that.

Also, I have seen that a fella with an r32 GTS-T with a fully worked 7m-gte in it is selling his car. They were talking low 20's. Has over 600hp at the wheels, already got HG done and has run a 12.XX @ 128mph so obviously a lot of wheelspin!

Hhhmmm.... pissing off all the hot ladies in Australia one-by-one isn't really my thing, so I'll pass on the identical plates I think! Tell me how the eXorst and the Koni's go when they come in.
I need me some new front shox, so I'm kinda shopping around, like I am for rims too.

I must admit though - many, many times I've yearned for the sweet sweet comfort of sound deadening on the highway.

I wonder if the plates silycar would go well on my soarer...

I could register it in NSW or VIC hehehe

Perhaps FATCAR or HEVICA or HEVYKA or similar, to denote the soarers weight problem? Very Happy

I must admit though - many, many times I've yearned for the sweet sweet comfort of sound deadening on the highway.

Stupid road noise.

PORKER?

WHALE?

nar if i go the wank factor plates it will be P1MP1N...

Yes the comfort is very nice, im really looking forward to the melbourne road trip now Very Happy
