Hey, I just wanted to confirm that you earth out the T pin on the ECU when you want to set the timing?
There is no diag plug wired up anymore.
Thanks

usually T1 + E1 on the diag box so yeah probably
should hear the engine speed up a bit then slow down when you do it...if it doesn't short circuit something

i have had problems getting my 4age into timing diag mode whilst its running, so i turn the car off, and then start it up with the pin shorted. YOu can tell when its in diag mode as the timing stays static rather than moving around.
When i have set my timing, i leave the T pin shorted and reef it out with the engine running and double check that the timing has modified itself
Works everytime.
Remember = T for timing.

T1 and E1 the car has to have the ignition turned off when you bridge so that the ecu fires into diagnosis mode when it recieves power up then you can check the timing.

"Short the terminals before starting" would it matter if i can do it anytime as long as the terminlas are shorted, when i short the terminals the motor dies of a little anf the timing changes, thats right isnt it, and then you just change the timing as required.
Cheers
