FYI, some manufacturers deliberately remove gear knobs before the show so people *can't* steal them. Same goes for covering intercoolers with sheets of perspex to stop people running their fingers across the core and ruining it. I remember the first time a WRX was displayed with the bonnet up... intercooler was totally unusable after the show.
BTW, my pics are available at:

Enjoy.

Urm, ya, i first heard about holden bringing the torana back out again last month. Sure the car itself was abit dodgy but to me the car was sweet looking more so the LH L34. But that one (thing?) looks like a piece-of-shit. From what i can see of the pics it just looks like a VX commodore with different panels and a Torana badge. Not happy Jan
Mmmmm Ford GT40
Now there's a car that i'd toss me AE82 twinky for
There's one running around up here at Maroochydore and people are not wrong when they say its only 40" high

Hey there,
motorshow was awesome. Mitch, what day did you go? i had to battle it out with thousands of retards who insisted in ruining evry second photo i took! I suppose i did go on the opening weekend which i spose is always a mistake. I'll try upload a selection of my photos from the show (definatly wont be 56k friendly).
I definatly wasn't a fan of the Torana, it looks to me like a new Vectra with big wheels, a body kit, pink paint and a white interior. It was funny though, when i was taking photos of it these two blokes (Obviously Holden nuts) looked at each other and one goes "That aint no bloody Torana"
I think the two highlights for me were the Alfa 8C and the Koenigsegg for sure!
Cheers
Steve

konisseig is alright... I'd take the Zonda any day - that car is sex on wheels (and goes heller fast to top it off!)
the torana would make a good new hsv commodoore... dump the clunker V8 for a TT alloy V6, but the looks dont really impress me - sort of a commodoore with a touch of 350z in there

No way man the Koenigsegg rips the Zonda. 0-100 in 3.2 seconds (equal to Mclaren F1), Quarter mile in 9 seconds, and later this year they intend to prove it'll reach 250mph to take the crown from the F1 as fastest production car. If you ask me looks better too!

Koenigsegg are doing a special version of the CC8S, called the CCR: http://www.koenigsegg.com/thecars/index.asp?submen u=4
It is this 800hp version that does 0-100 in 3.2s, and will be going for the top speed record. Did I mention it thumps out 920Nm of torque, and revs to 7600rpm?

The new "Torana" is based on a U.S RWD platform that Pontiac as supposed to be using, I the idea being to compete with the BMW 3 series standard of car.
About the only good thing about it is it will be RWD, but if realeased in Australia will probably be a 4 cyl, maybe a six. the overall dimensions aren't that far away from the Toranas from the 70's.
Now if only Toyota would release some small/mid size RWD's I'd be happy.

pft
for my limited driving skill, they're equally fast and terrifying, and I reckon the zonda is hotter - I'm not debating that the koniseigg isn't a superior car - it is, I'd just prefer the zonda
and prefer an F1 over either

The CCR is the only one they've shown in australia. The 'old' CC8S had a 'measly' 655bhp @6800rpm and 'only' 750Nm @ 5000rpm. It did a 'terrible' 3.3 seconds to 100kph and supposedly maxed out at a 'pathetic' 240mph.

My own pix, be warned though these are a bit biased towards my personal preference.
Saab Wagon
Audi wagon... mmm v8 40valve 6 speed manual 4wd
Mitsubishi
Evo VIII
now if they made this as an Evo...
twin turbo V12 anyone...?
and twin turbo 6.0L V8 in something that doesn't weigh 3 tonnes
And some Toyota thing. No stats. Apparently there's a turbo engine in it... (toyota stand really sucked)

ahhh i went first saturday just after lunch, the whole place was packed out! the one bit that pissed me off most though i spent a full two minutes getting a good position for a great front on shot of the Maserati MC12 looking through the viewfinder of camera, focused in... then out of nowhere a head pops up in front of the lens and some knobhead about 10 years old somehow found his way in front of me with his shitty cameraphone! not happy.

All Koenigsegg employees must immediately commit suicide, in shame over ever releasing the CC8S.
