Did you get them to look for GT4 outer CV's?

I know the shaft diameter and spline is the same for the AW11 E58 shaft and GT4 and MR2 turbo shaft, but the axle stub on the AW11 and GT4 ones are also exactly the same. The MR2 turbo axle is different.

thanks for the replys guys...

were any of those cars australian delivered?

the gearbox side stub is ok, as is the inner cv, the shaft is also ok but the outer cv is totaly up shit creek.

the outer stub that goes into the wheel hub is ok as well but the actuall outer cup part of the cv casing thats on it is broken...

thats what they are having trouble finding...

thanks again.

Yep the ST-185 GT4 was australia delivered. If you are going to use a GT4 CV it needs to be either ST-185 or ST-165. The ST-205 shaft is different.

There is also talk about V6 camry CV's being the same but I haven't looked into that so I don't know.

You don't want MR2 outers, they have a different stub spline.

Sweet!

All that research has paid off for more than just me. Happy to see you'll be out of trouble soon.

well that depends on how bad your current cv's are now...

my outer casing was cracked in half and the inner cage was cracked in 3 places...

i believe the bloke told me he used a celica drive shaft and a camry outer casing... something like that.

this was the short shaft on the passenger side so it may have been cheaper than the other side but it all cost 200 bucks with a 12 month warranty...

NVD-05X....

when he replaced the whole shaft, that didnt include the inner CV did it? (me = newbie to FWD shafts).

Reason i ask is i look to be in the opposite predicament. Conversion i'm doing into AE101 has the E58-11C lsd box, and the passenger drive shaft has a busted inner CV boot, and thus most likely a busted inner CV joint (moves too much for my liking). I think the inners are all good, but i would like to check them out anyway.

If anyone has any info on whether the inner CV is the same as the ST185 or Camry that would be cool Smile

Once i find out - i will be sure to have it in some FAQs somewhere.

sorry for the reply thats ages to late!

but the place i found is called "Evergreat Driveshafts"

its on corner of windsor rd and james ruse drive... next to where the old northmead sprint-a-kart was...

there is a little asian dude there that knows his shit!

after trying about 9 CV "specialists" he was the only one that could get me going again...

i strongly recomend them.
