1JZ idle speed problem

On start up sometimes my 1j will idle a lot lower then normal.
It does not seem to affect running or boosting at all but when you come to a stop it will idle at at least half its normal speed. Then after a while it will go away and idle normally.
Its just annoying because it is like the engine is asleep and as soon as you put your foot on the pedal it wakes up and takes longer to get going if that makes sense.
It is a JZX81 conversion to MX83 Cressida.
Thanks!

Hi, had the same problem! Clean your Idle Speed Control Valve. Pop it off, and give it a good clean with throttle boby/carby cleaner. The Subaru cleaner is the GO, it foams up and gets into every crevice!
regards Chuck.

I'm thinking about installing a Megasquirt ECU on a 1JZ.
Has the idle valve you guys are talking about got 3 pins or 4? IE is it a PWM valve or a stepper motor one?

another thing to do after cleanin it is
take neg batt terminal off to reset ecu for a minute or so
then refit terminal
then run engine at 1500 rpm for 4 or 5 minutes
this will actually make the idle motor screw all way out and then all way in and find its limits
hopeuflly this will then help abit

This is with your foot holding it at that rpm?

nar i usually just put a very thin cable tie or something similar under the throttle stop to hold throttle slightly open
