22-RE timing chain Sun, 24 October 2004 14:04 Go to next message
The engine has started to make some noises so I took the cam cover off to have a look. The chain moves around alot so is it the chain that needs replacing or a tensioner? Also, I can't seem to find the link where the chain comes appart.

I realise what happens if the chain breaks but can the car be driven in this state?

Thanks.

Yeah I know what happens when the chain decides to go somewhere but when the chain problem was fixed on my brothers Sigma (2.6), it seemed like a straight foward job but on the Toyota, I'm stumped. Does the head have to come off?

Just after i got my car back from geting the rebuilt engine put in, had to drive it to the rwc joint.
Anyway, once we got there the guy said that the timing chain hadnt been tightened and that we should get that fixed straight away.
Basicly i could of had my fresh engine trashed because some retard mechanic forgot one simple thing. I wouldnt risk it so we got the car towed back and had them fix it. if u have to get it towed
