Yes, get shielding.
If wires catch fire, good bye car.

Take the car for a spin, feel the temp of the plastic cover, let the car idle with the bonnet down for 5 mins, and feel the cover again.
If it feels very soft, and/or hot, put some metal shielding on it.
Even a few layers of alfoil if you feel cheap.

Nothing sort of a heat sheild will do a proper job here, and you don't want the sheild to attach to the extractors either.... 1G-GTE engines have a few heat sheilds on them and one of these should be able to be adapted to your car. Al-foil will be in contact with the wires and heat will be conducted from that into the loom itself. You will only delay the inevitable torching of you car using this stuff.

Lets see, i woudl reccomend you do all of the following.
Wrap loom with heat resistant electrrical tape (Dickys sells good stuff)
Wrap extractors with heat resistant braid stuff.
Wrap loom with alfoil.
Ziptie loom as far away from extractors as possible.
Fabricate alloy heatshield.
Keep fire extinguisher in car.

I'd do all but the extractor wrapping.
Unless they are designed to take it, they will die very quickly.

if it's that close, it's time to rewire and move it further away..
wrapping the wire loom with the extractor wrap (maybe 3-4 layers) will help a lot, but the only real solution is to move the loom...
not too hard to do.. some 15amp fig-8 cable from gaycar.. all good
