lately its been zapping me quite often. Today, i got 2 major zap frm the car body trying to close the door after getting out of the car.
the last zap i got,..i tried to close my door with my arms and i was wearing a long cotton jumper..and i still got zap!!
what is making it zapping me so often compared to few months ago when there's none...?
and how to stop/reduce them without putting those ricey black strip at the bottom of my rear bumper..

attach it under your car where you cant see it
get out of the car with your hand on the door then put your foot on the ground wihtout taking your hand off the door cill, thus grounding your elec with your foot/

those rubber strips you refer to that are supposed to ground static electricity dont actually work. rubber does not conduct electricity so cant transfer any to the ground, unless its covered with water, if rubber did conduct electricity then u wouldnt nead one cause the static would go through your wheels.

Lol.. I do like Garth said, and keep one hand on a metal part of the car body the whole time until both feet are on the ground..
Worst part is getting out without touching any metal, close the car door by pushing on the window glass, and then getting zapped in the hand by the car key when going to lock the door!

I hear those little strips are made of "conductive rubber"
I'm going to get one and mount it where it's can't be seen
cuz i get them something shocking it doesn't matter if i get out 1st or last.
or if i get like a coat hanger or something like that and put it on a metal part of my car then the ground would that work ?

listen to ae86drift and lucid, just hold the metal part of the door as you get out and put your foot on the ground. your GARUNTEED to not get zapped. or you can just be a gronk and stuff around with rubber strips like a retard.

As said below, its not just rubber. Its a conductive rubber like used on electronic service repair benches.
Or you can get the cheap and nasty ones with the wire strip down the center.
