3sgte Gen 3 fuel rail on a Gen 2 motor Sat, 30 October 2004 02:42 Go to next message
Just need some clarification guys

Will a gen3 fuel rail work with a gen2 3sgte ( 540CC injectors as you know as apposed to 440 )

If not - will the gen3 injectors " plug in " the gen2 rail

Ive heard conflicting views on this so i thojght i better ask before making a purchase

The gen 3 rail WILL NOT fit a gen 2.
However....
Gen 3 injectors WILL fit a gen 2 rail.
I know they do because I have done it!

Cheers

Gabe

Yup Gabe is spot on the money.

The GEN 3 rail is a much higher flowing unit though which a much larger bore so it's a damn shame it's not a direct swap.

I also thought about doing this, but there is too much work involved for my liking (also there isn't much meat to take away if you know what I mean), it can be done though.

In the end I decided to make a new rail which houses more common/cheaper top feed injectors.

If you end up keeping the stock rail, I have some custom bits you might be interested in. PM me if you're at all interested, I can supply pictures for you too.

You can and they do but i don't recommend it.

A better approach is to dual feed the rail and use the cold start port as the return.
