Spectre's RA28 (Interior Overhaul + Pics) Wed, 03 November 2004 04:35 Go to next message
My first car, an RA28, brought it for $2,200, body has verry little rust, runs well, 18R-C with extractors and 2 1/4 straight through exhaust.

Had a brown custom interior that made me want to throw up (was brown carpet like stuff all the way up the doors and all the trim) ... but that has begun to change Evil or Very Mad

What it began as

interior shot, notice the 'mustang' gearnob, and the brown door trim

Not allot of boot space with a pair of old 12" boss subs, a boss amp and a other no name brand amp. (2 speakers in either side of the door were old and broken, only 1 speaker in the rear of the car can be heard Confused )

First upgrade - some new mirrors as the old ones looked like they were from KMART and looked at the ground! Had to get some new ones so I caould do my log book test in my car...

Falcon mirrors of a XA* falcon, the pair cost me $100, and all i had to do was sand them back and paint them black. Had to drill new holes higher up to mount them (Thanks to a certain ToyMods Member who helped me mounting them)

Next Step was the interior...

Just a few wires found... that and just ONE 6x9 speaker on the passenger side.

interior stripped out

New door trims purchased, cost me $50 for the pair. They are not the stock trim but they had been retrimmed and are really nice...

http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2004-7/788663/DSCN1267.jpg
Sprayed various bits and peices from brown to black

http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2004-7/788663/DSCN1265.jpg
Carpets cost my $50, need a bit of a clean and a bit of spray to get rid of the sun burn...

http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2004-7/788663/DSCN1266.jpg
What they looked like after using a dog hair brush on them and a vacume cleaner Shocked

Now ive just got a few more bits and peices to spray (i ran outa vinel spray) and ive got to do a second coat on the roof, a coat on the kick panels as they have brown carpet glued to them, and some new black seat covers and then its just a matter of putting it all back together! (minus the old stero, subs, amps, and metres of wiring... )

Ill update when im putting the interior back together.

Price Cost so Far:
- Mirrors $100
- Carpets $50
- Door Trim $50
- Paint (3 cans of vinel, 2 of gloss) $55
- Sexy black interior to replace the old brown rubbish PRICELESS

You're welcome!

Yep the mirrors are standard issue XA-C Falcon, and also Ford Cortina and Escort of the early 70's. Passenger side units are particularly hard to find in good condition too!
