Ok I may be a geek but out of the 2 best 2D fighting games, what do you prefer?
King of Fighters or Street Fighter?

street fighter all the way. still remember when the first ones came out, i was at the local video shop every day lining up for a challenge.
i reckon they SF2 hyperfighter was the last good version. game become stupid after that, all this BS flying around in the air, doing mulitple fireballs at same time it just got crazy and no skills involved.
and i cant stand how people can use control pads to play SF, i refuse to play unless its arcade machine using real joysticks

I also like Street Fighter but the best is Street Fighter 3: Third Strike for the Dreamcast. Very difficult and lots of characters. I agree with arcade sticks being better than controllers...I have a DC arcade stick and won't play KoF unless I use it! 6 buttons

Its strange i never liked king of fighters until i started getting into it (2000) .. it always seemed not as polished as the SF series. I was always a fan of SF, but something never really felt right with KOF...
I mean concept wise it's pretty cool and characters (sprites) too .. but the handling i guess and the movement of characters kinda throws me out.
I think the best polished street fighter to date is SF 3: Third impact (Cant get enough of that game! I used to be hooked on playing that against other players in box hill all the time!) closely followed by SF Zero.
KOF Vs Capcom was a very intresting concept, but it still feels like KOF and limited.
In the end I still choose SF, but KOF is pretty good! Long live the 2d fighting games!!
