OK, I've decided I want one. Where did you guys get yours, and how much did you pay for them?
Can anyone recommend a place to get them in Sydney?

I don't care if it's old or new - I just don't want mph or pounds - much rather have kilo's/kmhr.

It's not the hassle of a calculator - it's just that If I'm gunna get one, I'm gunna get a good one and do it properly.
MR 1GGTE - where can I pick up one of the "aussie" ones?

autobarn, motoquipe, supercheap pretty much anywhere, but i would seriously reccomend getting the US one, the money you pay for the aussie one is just rediculous, lets face it you want your quarter mile speeds in MPH anyway

For the 1/2dozen times you're gonna use it, just get the cheapest one you can find.
Then charge your mates $5 to use it.

The cheaper imperial one does the same thing as the metric one. The imperial one is not of lesser quality or less accurate. in fact the metric one is a modified the imperial one, it just calculates to get kg/km instead of lb/mph.
same brand same G-tech more money.
but hey, im not gonna tell you how to spend your money.

ok then,
get a pair of wire cutters, chop off the cigarette wire plug, find an accessories wire, splice, find an earth, splice...
dont know why you would want to hard wire it anyway, wtf would you want it on your windscreen for permanently anyway?
All it does is attract attention, if you were really picky you could hard wire it and then use a crimped plug and unplug them when you are finished but isnt that the same thing?

Yeah, I thought about hard-wiring mine, but I don't want all the attention. Still, it'd be cool to boot it off at the lights and go "ooo, blah seconds 0-100".

Joorsh get this.
not only does it do quarter mile times, but it measures how much traction you get, works out the best point to launch at and shift at, saves times so you can work out which mods were good and which ones were bad.
They retail for about $450 but are truly awesome, its like having a dragstrip/dyno in youre glovebox

Where can you get these from in Australia?
Or do you have to order direct from Tesla in the US?

No worries... otherwise if a bunch of people (say 10+) want one I will contact Tesla direct and see if we can cut a good deal.

Dude, how would this work when it needs line of sight with the road??? Thats how they read, off a laser...ok, so thats how mine reads but id assume theyre all the same. Mine has to go on the front screen and its gotta be level before it will read...

G-Tech is an accellerometer. They hint at it with the G in the name. The reason why it has to be level is that the G sensor is not self zeroing. If it is on an angle it will read either more or less force depending on the direction it is leaning.

It doesn't matter with the Gtech Pro Comp and RS / RR models as they have a 3d g sensor.
It does on the older radar detector looking Gtechs though.
