They tried to make it scary, but its all just suspense and noise  That flash/macromedia thingos pretty well done.

w3rd.... I found that the score had you ready for any scares that were coming up anyway. There were some fucking woeful performances in there from some of the actors too.

True.
The ads did make it look good and scary. Unfortunately it was a piece of sh*t. My friend's seen the Jap version and apparently it was pretty good and so had high hopes for this version...
The ending is a typical Japanese horror ending. It doesn't end properly to suggest that it is ongoing and makes the viewer think harder about the situation. It's in books too. It works. If you're Japanese..
There's going to be a Part II and III as well. Can't wait for those!

I've only seen the jap one, but don't really feel the need to see the US one. I hear it looses it creepiness in the remake and is just the same old movie scene for scene. Plus it's like the third remake of the same movie, and I can't see how the director can market it out for soo long.
But the jap one was creepy as hell, and that's all that matters.
I'll prolly just wait for this to come out on dvd or something or at a really cheap cinema O_o

i didn't really pay attention in the movie, but i don't get how the kid kills people, and the mum too ? and one scene it had the mum as the killer and the kid as a onlooker ? so who actually kills ? or both of them do ?

The idea is that the father murdered both of them. So death and killing is the recurring theme in the house and it will never leave. So the mother and son are just twisted and fucked up and will continue being pains in the arse.
I reckon the best actor in the movie was the cat.

I thought it was pretty good, the best horror movie ive seen for a while, it wasn't just a massive stabfest, best bit was when the chick jumped into bed in her appartment n the mum was in there n she popped up n dragged her in...although i don't suppose any of you could tell me where they went
