hey guys here are some pics of my cars. i got a 72 ta22 and an 87 st162.
i bought the ta22 as a project about a month or two ago and have been busy working on that every chance i have.
the st162 i bought when i realised that the ta22 may take longer to get on the road than originally planed.
heres the ta22 as it was when i bought it
heres me sanding it
and here it is sitting in my shed waiting to get taken off to the panel beaters for rust repairs and a respray
and heres the st162

went to the panel beaters today to check out progress and take some pics. it turned out there was heaps more rust in the sills than originally thought but shit happens. probably a month and a half to two months till its on the road.

You're gonna love your TA22 when she's on the road. I've been doing the same on my 23, but it has taken me longer than planned. It original was going to be a rust repair and quick respray over the existing paint... well that turned into a full blown bare metal job and I've only just now gotten around to getting her ready for the top coat, only been about 9 months in the making.
I spend so much time sanding the car and trying to make sure each part is perfect, no imperfections in the undercoat or anything, and I know it will pay off. I've learnt heaps too, been a lot better experience than simply buying someone elses restored celica. It will be your baby and no one elses!
Good luck with it!

Hopefully mine will be done by new years, I have a road trip planned in january, and I also want to be able to drive her down to the gold coast on sundays!
My old man is a mechanic and he has painted a few cars himself, so he's doing mine. I'll be putting in an 18RG with EFI for now, since I'm only 20 and at uni I don't think I really want to be paying insurance for a 1GGTE, but it will come in the future.
