Ive got some scans of an article that has a AE86 over in japan with a 2jz-gte...
It fits, plenty of custom work, cutting, grinding, and fabing... It would be a biatch to drive anything other than a straight line in it, I would think a 1jz-gte would be the same.
Lemme know if you want the pics, Ill see if I can find em...

You will seriously upset the weight distrubution of the 86 which is what makes the car what it is... if you put a 1JZ in it im afraid it becomes nothing more than a drag car with an ae86 shell...
there is a guy on these forums who has put a V8 into his sprinter, i think he was saying corners are a bit of a whore to work on, but he loves the car in a straight line
hope that helps

Quote: | Why don't you try something different, try & find a Honda S2000 engine & gearbox. I think thrers a japanease company out there that makes stroker kits for them. Then all you have to do is drop the compression toughen the internals, have some one make up a manifold bolt up a big ball bearing turbo & you have a engine capable of reving up to 9000rpm & put out in excess of 600hp. Get a V-tec controller & drop the V-tec to 4500rp & your engine should be happy on the street, track & the strip. It might be expensive but it will be well worth it in power & street cred.

I believe someone on this forum put a 1j into his sprinter then afterwards realised is isnt a legal size motor (woops), it now has a single turbo 1g.

Then he sold it with 1g and the new owner rid it off.
The reason he sold it was so he can put a 2j in a new AE86 (8sec AE86) Should be second fastest in the world if everything goes by plan, from what I've heard
