you'd need to match the ADR and emmissions specs of the car.
as a rule of thumb, engine must be same age or younger than the target vehicle.

i think you will find that is going to be the problem. the gze was not produced in 2001.

but what's that got to do with when the engines were made? two thirds of fuk all.
unless you don't want to engineer the car (so you can't sell it, could be taken off road if defected, wont pass standard RTA insepction, etc) in which case, go for it...
but a legal conversion would require an engine the same or newer that the current power plant.

I don't think the 4a's bolt up to the current class of corollas anyway.
it's gonna be a semi hard conversion.

this thread is going downhill fast.
This same question has been asked over a hundred times, from people in all states of Australia.
The answer is:
Talk to an engineer. They can explain what is legal, allowable and certifable and by what means.
Contact your local registration authority to ask more questions on the legalities of what your mate rekons.
Anymore silly questions/misguided comments and this thread will be locked

OK, for the good oil on conversions in WESTERN AUSTRALIA, go the DPI Website, and check out the "Vehicle Modification Application" form. Our rules here, are vastly different to the eastern states, to the effect we can legally perform many different swaps not allowed legally in the east.
http://www.dpi.wa.gov.au/licensing/forms/modform_p rodveh.pdf
And by the way, don't expext to do this conversion for the cost of the halfcut and a few extra dollars either.
