modify or delete your own thread Fri, 03 December 2004 15:03 Go to next message
I have noticed that a lot of threads get highjacked with BS talk or abuse.

I think the creator of a thread should have the power to delete unwanted comments on his own thread or maybe even delete the thread itself once it is no longer required or rendered useless.

just a thought.

creator moderated threads is not a good idea IMO. What about if someone were to start a thread and then go nuts moderating it etc?

if you have a problem, use the "REPORT TO MODERATOR" feature listed under every single post on these forums. That feature is there for the exact purpose you want Smile

look about two lines down from HERE, and to the RIGHT....

We really want to try and keep a reasonably even level of moderation, this doesn't happen when the creator of every thread is the moderator of that thread.

We try to be as non-invasive as possible in general with our moderating, of course there are times when "it hits the fan" and things don't go so well. We have no way of controlling the moderation of the threads if we do this and people could do anything they want with the contribution of other members to the forum.

I know I check the reported messages at least 10 times a day. There is also commonly 10 plus threads or messages reported a day. This is the method to use for any posts or threads that offend you or for some other reason you want to bring to the attention of the moderators.

yes this is very true and we all have faith and full confidence in our Admins and moderators to do the right thing.

but this is the kind of thing im talking about

http://forums.toymods.org.au/index.php?t=msg&t h=53424&rid=5064&S=78ed4b52866044b991f67b6 d9f164400

by the time the guy reports these messages to the moderator its too late. the damage has been done, if he could delete those comments immediately it wouldnt be as damaging to his sale.

BTW this isnt a very good example but an example none the less.

there is always the odd case which cannot be fixed immediately, but on the whole i think we do a good job - especially josh - at clearing up the crap.

Short answer - never going to happen.

Why shouldnt it be for the forum junkies who have post atleast 500 post which seems fare. They wouldnt post 500 post unless they where a true toymod supporter. Just a thought Smile
