3sgte info needed Mon, 06 December 2004 02:16 Go to next message
Hi every one

I have recently purchased a 1991 Group A Celica and I am now chasing some info on the engine in them.

Firstly I would like to know what weight oil people recommend running in them.

Secondly in the Group A is it a GenII or GenIII engine

And last but not least what is the most boost the standard turbo and internals can handle?

Any help will be much appreciated

Welcome to Toymods, the majority of these questions can be answered with google, however...

I run and recommend Pennzoil GT Performance Synblend 10W-40 or the fully synthetic 10W-30.

The 89-93 ST185 celica gt4 (ST185CS in your case) comes with a Gen2 3sgte

And the stock CT26 is good for about 14-16psi to redline depending on exhaust setup and turbo condition.

Post some pics of your ride dude, always good to see another gt4

If its a Group A what number is it ? We need you to fill out your details under topic "Group A list" please do so as this is valueable info.

The Group A ecu is mapped to 18psi. You cant run anything above that as it boost cuts. Running 18 PSI will kill the motor in a short amount of time. Not much gain except for heat anything above 15psi.
