How about steam pipe/schedule 40, you can get this from the hardware about $8 a bend. People use this to build manifolds. Bit thicker than required. Wall thickness is around 4-5mm. Might be a bit harder to work with and heavier but probably last forever. Any thoughts on this?
Thanks

Schedule 40 bend in 3" diameter for $8 - sounds like a bargain.
Scrap metal yards of the type that let you stroll through their staino bins are worth their weight in gold. I got my entire 3" mandrel exhaust for about $23.

Yellow rolla - are there any of these places in Sydney??
Sounds great!
Schedule 40 is good but too heavy I think. Worked it out to be about 13kg a metre I think. Wall thickness is 5.5mm in 3-3.5"

Try a company called specpipe in blacktown (cant remember no sorry) they are specialised pipeline manufacturers and make/stock this sort of stuff.
