Hey guys,
As the title states I snaped my timing belt a little while ago & am about to replace it.
I just wanted to know if the 4AGZE has a non interferance head. I wouldnt wanna test it & think its ok & find it goes boom when i start it.
Thanks
Dave

I believe tht all Toyota belt driven engines are non interference.

Beware if head work has been done to the engine, its relatively easy to get a NI head to become and Interference head again.

machining face of head will bring valves closer to pistons, using hi-comp pistons with higher than factory crown high does same... if you remove too much height, valves meets the piston very intimately (and violently).

so as long as i only machine it the bare minimum I should be ok?
or is it when you machine heads 2 or 3 times that the motor then becomes an interference engine?

be careful with new cams too... higher lift could possibly make valves meet piston especially with that minimal headwork

just get them to measure it when they machine it and they should be able to tell u whether it'll still clear

So i should be fine to use the standard methods of testing.. i.e spinning the harmonic balancer and seeing if there is any interferance?

Yup, turning the engine by hand will tell you straight away if things are bumping into other things.
