New RTA rules????

I am looking at buying a 20 Valve TODAY... And put it into a KE30-55 Corolla...
Are these new rules going to affect me???
I know you can't drive V8, Turbo or supercharged cars... But coming from a 4K engine to a 20V is a hell of a lot of power increase...(Probably the equivalent of a V8 commodore)
Could I register it as an 86kw If I need to???

yeh i heard that on the news too. As for modded cars, if you already own one that fine, as long as it's registered in your name, not your parents. There are also exceptions for families with 1 car which may be a V8 or something

you could register it as an 86KW but in any incident that may occur, insurance would not be valid and even if the accident is not your fault you could end up at fault as the car is not registered correctly and actually legally for that matter... but unless there is a clear indication that the car is 100kw or 20V etc then they would not know without pulling it apart...
but what are they considering too powerful? if you had for example a 2000 model pulsar SSS they are 110kw stock and unmodded, or even NX coupes... they are all factory 2.0ltr twin cams and 100-110kw stock, yeah they go pretty good but i wouldnt really consider them POWERFUL...
so you can either get in there before the rule starts or wait and see exactly what provisions they are going to apply

or you could just not drive like dickheads in modified cars, don't have accidents (like the recent GTR) and then all this fuss will abate..
any move to increase driver training and awareness is a good thing. think of all the idiots in your year at highschool... 99% of them probably have a licence, which makes the road a dangerous place
