Plan:

1. Pre-organise a deal with an upcoming politician to get foot in door as planning minister.
2. Raise $$$ for said person to actually enter into politics.
3. Person becomes planning minister, rezones your land as residential.
4. Your property value goes from $100m to 1Billion.
5. Smile.

Dirty munny grubbing whores. I s'pose Oran park would be fairly useless if it stayed in the middle of an enormous housing estate, with the urban-sprawl poooftahs enforcing crippling noise restrictions, like so many circuits around the world have suffered.

Yep.

So what are we gonna be left with? Eastern Creek, which we can't even get on, or Wakefield, 2.5hrs away (your fucked if you break down at the track).

Nice one, assholes.

familiar story up in Qld - the Pine River's Shire Council is doing it's best to see that Lakside Raceway never re-opens..

http://www.lakesideraceway.com/

the local council is stalling to prevent proper protection of the raceway so it's cultural purpose (club racing) can be maintained - it hopes to allow residential development of the area

The only thing preventing the buldozers from going thru the track was cultural heritage listing - unfortunately the council is now using this as a lame exucse for failing to do any maintenance or beginning planning for future potential use oif the track.

... the moral of these stories? no matter who you vote for, some scumbag politician usually gets elected,

Unfortunately this is a familiar ploy in Sydney. One particular piece of land the springs to mind is the old Rozelle Hospital grounds, on which they refuse to do any maintenance, which will result in the heritage listed buildings becoming 'derilect' and having to be demolished.

dont worry lads, my mum told me that Oran Park is being rebuilt out at Badgery's Creek, and its from a solid source aswell because my mum works for a catering company that does all the big events for Oran Park. one of the director-type guys out there was talking about the re-location. and its only 15 minutes away from Oran Park too. plus its closer to the guys coming from the north. but yeah, it should be good out there, hopefully they start building soon so theres no down-time between when they knock Oran down and the new track opens. what about the skidpan and that ian luff and many other use and the track for advanced driver training courses, oran park is by far the best spectator tracl, not great to get in or out of, but from almost any spot you can see 90-100% of the action which gives the paying public great value for money, it is used continuosly for driver training, club races and trucks and the V8 supercars.
If they close it down it means that any youth from campbelltown has no chance of getting off the street racing, as we can't go to eastern creek and wakefield is a bit of a drive.
It's bullshit the government which is state is getting to greedy for their own good, Bob Carr doesn't have a licencse and it shows he doesn't give two shits about the motoring public on road and in their forms of entertainment. All thety want to do is sell of everything to make some quick cash.

well apparantly they've already allocated the land for it dude, so i doubt that its not true. the guys that run Oran Park were disappointed that the new airport wasnt built at Badgery's Creek as that would have meant people and equipment could have been flown straight in 10 mins from the track, alot easier than coming all the way from Mascot. Rolling Eyes theres more than ample land out that way too, and so then strict noise restrictions cant be imposed.

they cant just demolish Oran Park and then have nothing to replce it, that would be very harsh and damn greedy. they want "young, speeding hoons" off the streets, so heres the perfect oppurtunity to build a new track and keep everyone happy. Smile

It's all whack: They JUST FINISHED the new pit garages at Oran Park this year. Kinda strange if they're going to tear it all down soon . . Maybe that kinda waste is irrelevant when you've just had a cool $billion waved under your nose.

I don't expect Calder park too last much longer either, since Bobbby-Jane hasn't spent a single dollar on that sh!thole in a decade, and is only 1km up the freeway from the latest housing development suburb to appear . . .
