I need a specific part that wreckers couldn't give a toss about. Sun, 26 December 2004 15:52 Go to next message
Basically, I am looking for this...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v299/kingsnakelegend/Cup%20Holder/DSC01697.jpg

It is the cupholder from the following cars...
GX81 Chaser / Cresta / MarkII
JZX81 Chaser / Cresta / MarkII
Jap spec MX83 Cressida (Aussie Cressidas did not come with them)
Possibly more cars but those are the ones I know are correct.

Now, I have been told that halfcuts often come with the dash still intact... One importer said that they don't come with anything but I am sure that some do.

I need someone to help me acquire this part by talking to a parts supplier who has GX81, JZX81, JDM MX83 parts or halfcuts in stock. The cupholders could be taken off halfcuts and the buyer wouldn't give a shit. If they can get them as a part that's great but over the phone no-one gives a shit because it aint a turbo, intercooler, coilover or engine part etc.

I don't want to pay the $155 that Toyota wants, that's ridiculous.

Somebody please help.

More pics... the cupholders can be removed by prying up the gearshifter surround and then undoing the two retaining bolts that are subsequently exposed.

This is what it looks like in action............................ The shifter surround removed.

Left retaining screw............................................. ... Right retaining screw.

Thanks.

PS: The reason that I am not doing this myself is that in Melbourne there are no suppliers that stock the appropriate cars. I am hoping the NSW boys can help out.

Interesting... I honestly don't know what they are worth because I have not been able to speak to anyone that has them.

Is it exactly like that one in the pics? Is it in good working order?

It's been paid for and is apparently in the post as of today. Hopefully when I get the iced coffee stain out of my passenger seat my velour interior will no longer live in fear of drink spillage. Very Happy
