Like this ->
That's a gen five blacktop in my AE-86. (Should I now call it an SE-86??)
And I also have one in my Fraser Clubman.
Glenn Booth has more of them as well.
Some basics - 11.5:1 compression, titanium valves, VVT-i on both cams, 210hp standard, etc.
Bloody nice engine indeed.

no, some ST202 Celicas in Japan had them - bolt right in
I have the FWD g-box and fly off a single vvt-i BEAMS out of one of these
very expensive though, but amazing engines

Yeah the blacktop one (as shown in Bill's pic) is from an Altezza and is set up for RWD. I guess you could adapt it to FWD but it was never used in any FWD cars from the factory and was therefore never set up for FWD so I don't know how that would go. By the looks of it you would have clearance issues with that intake plenum up against the firewall.
The red top Beams is set up for FWD and would be a much better bet. It has the plenum on top of the cam cover. If you've seen the pics on the Lander Racing site you'll see what I mean.
Would make a great conversion into a 162, provided you could get it wired up properly! But they are quite rare and very expensive.......

Holly Shit Bill thats fantastic, so you got it up and running, plenty of torque i bet, excellent work.
What would you say was the hardest part of the beams conversion.
Cheers

Bill, those look absloutely fantastic. So much so that I'd call you all sorts of names for being in posession of 2 blacktop BEAMs engines. Defiantely not fair.
One day I'll have one of these babies in my SW20!!!!
Price wise, I've seen a half cut of a SW20 Red Top BEAMs for $3800 which is a steal. From CVAP.

Check out this link for all the stats:
http://english.auto.vl.ru/catalog/5724/
The Celica Beams has 200hp (147kw), the Lexus version is 210hp. Celica Beams 3SGE half cuts are also around the $4k mark.
I wish the ST202's were sold here in Australia. They'd make nice competitors to the Integra Type-R's.
