Well after weighing the stock one and an aftermarket billet one the results are in:
2jzge flywheel weight: 8.1kg
2jzge aftermarket weight: 7.1kg

Yeah, I was quite surprised when you told me how heavy it was.
All off the factory cast flywheels I've played with have been around the 8kg mark (3Y, 1G, 4M, 5M)
So, was the uber cost of the flywheel worth the weight savings?

Sure they were not talking about the GTE flywheel? Due to the Turbo flywheel having built in dampers.

6.9kg may have been the weight before installation of the ring gear
also, dont diregard the importance of where the weight has been lost from (ie radius)

Radius?
1kg from the rotating mass of the driveline is still a respectable loss, just thought the stocker weighed in even heavier thats all.

Why don't we change the topic of this post so we can all post up our flywheel weights for comparison?
Maybe we could even post up diameters and bolt patern etc. so we can see which flywheels may be interchangable?
I'll measure and post up the weight of my stock 3SGTE gen 2 and 3 flywheels vs the moly one that came with my exedy twin plate clutch if anyone wants to know.

What Ed means is that 1kg lost from thae outer edge of the flywheel is worth much much more than 1kg lost closer to the centre.
