how much CCA's is enough for a gze. Fri, 07 January 2005 05:15 Go to next message
hey fellas,
just wonder if there was a minimum cranking power needed for a gze and what it was.

my gze fails to start on my old 2 year old nrma battery.

just bought my self a century with 440 CCA and 95 RC.
it gets it up and going but not successfully 100 percent, this could be lead to something else.

but just want to eliminate all the other alternatives.

was goin to go for the more high end batteries like optima or
odyssey but wasnt willing to spend 250 - 300 for a battery.

What you have is WAY MORE than you NEED.

If it doesn't turn over really quickly, I'd be looking at connections, earth, and the condition of the starter motor.

I have a 550CCA turning over 1uz, which its twice the cylinders, plus its 10:1 c/r, not in the 8's like yours.

Optima and Odyssey batteries are not worth the cost in car applications, unless you need the room.

yeah 380 is fine, my slow cranking problem ended up being a problem with the starter motor, when rebuilt all was beautiful, cranked immediately and sounded much better whilst cranking too Smile

The battery that was in the GZE frontcut Witzl got was tiny... would have been lucky to be 300CCA and it started the car no worries... even after we were being stupid with the headlights (worklights) and horn etc.
