URGENT : Info required 3SGTE (ST165)

Need a bit of info regarding ST165s. Seems that it's a little tricky to get hold of ST165 engines these days (surprise) but finding a 185 engine isn't half bad. The only question is, aren't they mounted on different angles, would this cause issues with fitting a 185 engine into a 165?

Oh, and I suspect that using the 165 external parts (ie everything but block and head) is the way to go in terms of ease of fitting.

nah mate they mount on the same angle. and fit straight in. the difference is in the cooler. I am not too sure but you may have to run your ST165 cooler or put a scoop on the bonnet.

lol - yeah I realise this - just mentioning
Does anyone know if there are any internal differences between the 165 and the 185 motor (ie pistons/cams etc?).

I hear the 185 has a different compression ratio - is this true?

I think it's 8.8:1 for the St185, and 8.5:1 for the 165 (and co-incidentally the 205 too)

So I need definite confirmation, has anyone who has PHYSICALLY themselves put the ST185 engine into a ST162 or ST165 tell me that the blocks (externally) match up no problems?

And that the standard ST165 ECU doesn't have any issues with the higher compression ratio (don't most 3SGTEs have a knock sensor?)
