Any easy way to remove alternator whine?

Hey there,
Recently (all of a sudden) I've started to experience alternator whine coming from my subbies and speakers powered by the amp at the back. Ruling out the most obvious thing I rewired the speaker wires down the opposite side of the car to the power wire, but to no luck...
I was told there was some sort of filter you could buy, and at the moment have no money, is there any way I can make myself a filter out of anything? Or does anyone know any other methods to obliderate the alternator whine (other than removing my alternator hahahahahaha  ).

An alternator noise suppressor, I think they are called. Couldn't say how well they work though, nor how much they are worth.

iv found that this is usually caused by an electrical leak somewhere... especially if it didnt happen previously and then just started
why would it just start? something has changed somewhere

Most cars come stock with suppressors fitted to noisy things in the engine bay like alternators, igniters, etc etc.
These suppressors however start braking down and drying out with heat so they will not last for ever.
You could try replacing the factory fitted items or simply add another to the alternator or whatever is causing the noise.

Noise suppressors suppress noise. They are fitted to the device that is creating the noise.
Noise filters go in line with your audio devices to help prevent noise entering the circuit.

The output of the alternator is actually rectified AC.
The supressor filter reduces some of the noise, left over after the diodes have done their bit.
If replacement of the supressor doesn't fix the problem then it is time for a new or rebuilt alternator.
